Get away while feeling right at home.

You are always welcome at Waimanaaki

Waimanaaki offers the coastal beauty of Riversdale Beach, a range of fantastic activities, and comfortable, affordable accommodation and facilities.

It’s the perfect place for your next school camp, work retreat or family getaway!

Ah, Waimanaaki- what can I say?

If you want a place where you can get away from it all and yet be where it’s all happening?

And you want a place where you feel relaxed and welcomed and are made to feel part of the family from the minute you make your enquiry, then Waimanaaki looking after you is just the place you need to have your next camp.

Our men from Life Church in Palmerston North have been using this venue since 2008 (except for their sabbatical year 2012) and we have never felt so well looked after at ease there is no doubt a very welcoming spirit at Waimanaaki.

We have enjoyed each time we have gone back watching the improvements and development of the facilities over the years and the heart of the folk who look after you

Facilities: a big tick YES
Activities in and around the camp: a big tick YES
The people who look after you at the camp: there is not a tick big enough to say YES!

We are looking forward to heading back in 2013!

I organised an NZQA course, run by NZ Seafood Industry Training Organisation, for members of Kauhungunu Coastal Hapu Collective.

All the kai without exception was just awesome and everyone commented on how well fed they were and how welcoming you and the whanau were towards them.

The tutors were so impressed with the facilities and the hassle-free atmosphere. Most of the hui they hold are on marae and many don’t meet the health and safety conditions required, and toilet and sleeping conditions are not ideal so many times, they stay off-site at night. Being able to stay at Waimanaaki with all the whanau was good for them and of course, they just love your whanau and Riversdale.

We used Waimanaaki during Easter 2008 for a whanau reunion for Kahutiaterangi Paku descendants. There were five generations and 128 registered. Many had travelled from Australia, South Island and various location in the North Island.

The facilities were ideal particularly for the purpose of catering for the various ages, from kaumatua to newborn babies. The accommodation options meant that kaumatua were able to use the lodge and/or the small cottages and whanau groups using the bunkrooms.

The hall and dining room were perfect for the activities held and the close proximity to the beach allowed activities to be conducted there as well. Having lifeguards on duty was ideal for the number of young ones that went swimming.

Without exception, everyone loved the time at Waimanaaki.

Our Year 7 and 8 students had a fabulous time participating in activities ranging from archery, quad bike riding, kayaking, and paintballing. The site lends itself to team challenges with raft building, orienteering and group sand sculptures. All this in beautiful Riversdale with a pristine beach and rock pool area for the children to enjoy… amazing experience. This along with incredible food, great accommodation and high tech facilities make it one of the best camps our school has been to! Our hosts are very welcoming and incredibly helpful, going out of their way to ensure all children have an unforgettable time away from home! We are definitely ‘booking in’ for next year!

We have had two senior drama camps at Waimanaaki. Both times we have been extremely impressed with the care and attention that the staff go to make our camps successful. The camp is beautifully clean and modern, with comfy beds and bunkrooms that all have ensuites. Wonderful home cooked meals each day make the students feel looked after and comfortable away from their own home environments. The locality to the beach, volleyball, table tennis and basketball hoop were welcome downtime activities for our students to enjoy after the rigorous class activities during the day. A great spot and would definitely recommend.
